The first salvo of pres. Jacob Zuma‘s radical economic state capture was fired last week just before the reshuffling of cabinet by approving shale gas extraction, said Adv. Anton Alberts, the Freedom Front Plus‘s parliamentary spokesman on energy.
Adv. Alberts said the FF Plus has always been against the extraction of shale gas by means of fracturing, and has set the potential danger equal to the explosion of an atomic bomb if the underground water flow is contaminated.
He says there is more evidence that this type of extraction is very harmful to the environment and biodiversity and has a serious negative impact on the health of humans.

“Eskom currently has a surplus power and this type of extraction for new energy sources is not necessary. South Africa should rather focus on renewable energy sources,” says Adv. Alberts.
