The ACDP is shocked and saddened by the news that ANC Member of Parliament, Sibusiso Radebe, was shot dead in Roodepoort, Gauteng, last night (Tuesday, June 19).
ACDP MP and Chief Whip, Cheryllyn Dudley, today said that, “Honourable Radebe was a colleague and we are saddened by this tragic news. We in the ACDP send our heartfelt condolences to Sibusiso’s family and ANC colleagues”.
Preliminary reports indicate that the deceased was with another person in a vehicle parked in Carbon Street, Lindhaven, when two suspects allegedly approached the vehicle and opened fire, fatally wounding the deceased, while his companion managed to escape uninjured.
The police were searching for two people in connection with the 40-year-old politician’s murder. The motive is still unknown.
“We call on authorities to act swiftly to apprehend suspects and investigate the killing – this does not bode well as we head toward the 2019 elections which will be fraught with political tensions”, Dudley said.
